Weddings go “vintage” this season. If the various wedding fairs are any indication to go by, vintage weddings are the hot favorites for the next couple of years. From wedding dresses to colors and decorations everything is inspired by the cottage feel look.
Wedding dresses showcased at bridal fashion shows indicate that big skirts are the choice to make, with fitted bodices preferably strapless. Intricate bead or glitz work is not favored as much as fabric embellishments and trails.
For those looking for vintage ideas, the color to choose is cream or ivory. White is a big no-no with the vintage flavor.
The other colors to go with are all possible shades of pink right from pale to rich cerise. Splashes of olive green with soft green of eucalyptus add to the cottage garden feel. The ambience is all natural, very flowery and… oh so pretty.
Receptions are being designed as either elegant or quirky. Elegant decors include tall martini glass vases, full of water and topped with vintage pink rose petals. The quirky bride can go with ceramic pitchers and jugs, bone china crockery and individual vases (glass). The idea is to create the feel of a marquee or church hall. Decorated birdcages and storm lanterns are also a great touch.
An interesting décor item could be faux flower vases “Cathy Wraps”. These faux vases double as pew or aisle decorations, centerpieces as well as favors.
They come with Doey’s pew clips for pew decoration and can be ordered with special holes or shepherd hooks with coordinated ribbons to be hung from chairs.
Available in five colors these faux vases are 4” in diameter and height. These are reversible with polka dots on one side and paisley on the other.
A dash of color can be added with the use of muted purple shades. The favorite flowers being vandal orchids, Amaranthus, (both purple) and roses in vintage colors like Amnesia, Amalia or Hypnose.
